Or a K5 Blazer from the '70s and early '80s like Campos. He talks about trucks like those nonstop. What ya think? Too much for an 18 yo?

Where you gettin all this Cheddar? ;)

Those things aint cheap. Expect to spend about 7-8 grand for a nice example of either one.

I like to save the cheese for times like this, mister Lenn :P

But seriously? Im not looking for something with an immaculate interior or body. I want to find something affordable and in good shape to either take back with me or find in Miami.

This doesn't look all bad and Im not concerned with the hard top. </soft top goes there>

My brother wants to learn some basics on vehicles and I dont see a better opportunity with an old truck.

^ Thats not that bad at all... For 1500, I'd rock the shit outta it. A minimum it could be an automotive lesson (body work/ mechanical work, etc.) that he will always value.

Exactly. Right now Im just talking it out with my dad and see if he's on board with it. He wants to surprise my little brother too. As of now my dad has been looking at getting my little brother with a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Over my dead body he will. hah

Hopefully next week I might roll out to khols in that hoop-dey haha

I had a 1997 Jeep ZJ (grand cherokee) and even though it cost me alot to repair, I beat that thing like it was job for three years and it NEVER left me stranded. If it was gonna break, it would be something that would either be able to be driven with or it waited 'till I got home to die.

I did put three transmissions in it but again, after 150k of my late teenage years, it deserved it.

What Im more concerned about is their tricky cooling problems. I've seen people at work trying to figure out why their cherokee keep overheating after changing out fan motors, thermostats, water pumps, radiators and etc. Then about the A/C problems faced with those vehicles. Hell you even mentioned the tranny problems. Even if you do beat it like it owed you money, I dont see myself having to replace his tranny every 30k miles. :/

Mine never overheated. I've never heard of cooling issues... I did have to replace the radiator once since the side tank cracked. I went ahead and put in both new hoses, a t-stat and a water pump while I was at it.

I can visualize cooling issues in the 5.2L with such a small engine bay and a reletively large motor but I had the 4.0L wich is bulletproof. Im not a fan of the WJ style (99-04), they're kinda fragile. The 93-98's were great.

Yeah, Im talking about the 318s they put in those ZJs. Thats just doesnt seem like a good idea. My dad told me he was looking at a model with the 318 in it. I persuaded him out of that.

Im juust trying to figure out what kind of problems the Broncos themselves had.

Not much that I can remember. Either motor (302/351) are bullet proof but the 302 is heavily tasked by moving that big beast around. Especially when you go adding bigger tires.

My buddy had a early 90's Eddie Bauer w/ 302 and a 5 speed manual and that thing was a dog. He had 35" BFG M/T's on it and a 4" lift.

It's diffucult to find a Bronco with a standard. Im also going to avoid 302 motors as much as possible. It has to be an inline 6 or 351 and up haha

The 300 I6 is a hoss, the only downside is the absolutely dismal gas mileage when paired with 3.55 or deeper gears. It's not a high revver at all and will bleed you dry at the gas pump when it has to work over 2500 rpm's at highway speed. I had an 89' F150 with the I6/M5OD and it got a whopping 10mpg but it had a 4.?? rearend. The truck I had after that was a 94' F150 extended cab I6/E4OD and it got around 16/19 mpg.. but both were 2wd.

Psss... there are turbo kits for the 300 too :)
