Why is the site being so slow?

As a for instance, I tried to post this thread and it took 27 seconds from the time I clicked "New Thread" to the time the screen actually came up and allowed me to post this. I am on a T1 government network so I would not imagine its my connection.

I tried pinging this site 10 times and averaged 212ms between them all. That's about 10x what it should be.

hhhmmm, that is strange, it is not slow for me. Maybe it is our hosting company?

it works fine for me. maybe dns is down somewhere down the line for the hosting company sending traffic a different route to your connection. if so it should only be a temporary thing. i would give it a day or so then worry.
