As promised earlier I am posting a build thread I've been wanting for a hot minute, as some of you know I was into dsms for the longest some ran some had major problems. I always loved the power/potential of the 4g63s and soon realized that with a son I needed something 4 door and the 1g/2g dsms wouldn't cut it, evos are a dime a dozen now I contemplated on getting one as soon as I finished the settlement, after careful research on different forums. I came to the conclusion the 8g galant is what I wanted it has the 4g64 sohc and can use the evo8 head and turbo swap, and the 3g eclipse 5 speed trans swap and you have a fwd stroker evo, I wanted to go further and push the envelope and make it a AWD. There is 1 other person on the galant threads who has the subframe and diff, but his project isn't complete and isn't going to anytime soon from the looks of it. so it's my turn to complete this task, I found a cheap rear subframe which is the first major hurtle but it ended up being sold and out of stock, so I'm mainly waiting on this, hope you guys like this also, time line to complete this build is 1 year and hope to run 9s when all said and done. and now to the pictures of parts.
also plans are to steal the 550cc injectors from the supra for now but will end up with 1600cc when all said and done.

So do you have the car yet?And please tell me that you're gonna rebuild that turbo because we all know that things wasted.Or just buy padens new T3/T4 he has sitting in his room that he'll never use.

nope don't have the car yet, don't plan on buying one till I get the motor setup, reason being is I can't have another car until I get rid of either the teg or the supra, I'm at the limit, plus I'd rather know I have everything under the sun to do the build before I make the commitment purchasing the car. I do plan on sending the turbo off to get rebuilt, but I doubt thats the true problem with the supra I believe it's either HG or valve seals.

be careful with using those rods......imo i would use manley turbo tuff or pauter rods, everything else looks decent, also look at getting some Kiggly Beehive springs and retainers to use with the Kelford cams and get the Kiggly main girdle kit to solidify the bottom end.....just my 2 cents

So just a quick update this shit has a wild twist to it. So I have bad news, good news and great news. Well my job is closing down yet again but this time there's no coming back from it. I've been looking around and have a idea what I'm going to do next but I have to get into this program first. I'm actually filing my taxes and hope to get more them expected gotta talk to one of the people about how many dependants I can claim. The great news is since I finished the integra I can sell that and get majority of the parts I'm needing. Sorry for the puncuation I'm on my phone and its hella hard for periods and commas and stuff.
Sounds like all you are missing is a car at this point. Plans are coming together. In for pics. ;)

mike please read the first post and it would say it will be converted into an AWD, using the evo 8 5 speed trans, and rear diff. it's going to be using a 2g GSX rear subframe since the rear suspension will fit back there.
the neons on that evo bring me WWWAAAYY back!

this has been done by plenty on 3g eclipses. my car also has the 4g64. ive thought about doing the swap also but its not in my budget right now, so instead i boosted my eclipse.
and u better have deep pockets cuz this isnt cheap.
btw the 4g64 is a SOHC not DOHC, but the evo head is a direct bolt on so i guess u can say dohc. also the evo manifold wont bolt on directly u will need a spacer. u might already know this.
this is a shot of my engine bay,

yes this has been done by a few 3g eclipses I know this, also I will be using a evo 8 head to turn it into a dohc 2.4l, which doing this will allow me to run the manifold, I wasn't talking about slapping it on the sohc . but this will be the first 99-03 galant actually in the world that will have this completed. many have tried but ended up giving up..

you should honestly just get the 2.5 twin turbo v6 that came in the galants over seas
^ Good luck. Have you ever priced one? Cah Ching... the 6G74TT is HIGH DOLLA, when you can find one.

honestly I havn't seen or really read up alot on those motors, I'm more intrested in what I know will be easier parts to source being the 4g64 motor. I would only ever think about that motor if I owned a shop and wanted to show off the random motor swaps that are avail in the world. hell I've been thinking of putting a ls1 in the mk3 but was talking to a friend about a trade for my TT wheels on it for a 2jz/na which sounds nice but I will end up paying more in the end, to get back my rims and to rebuild the n/a 2jz.

02-05-2010, 07:50 PM
so wut is it? cuz i myself have read this swap alot and thought about it, but its kinda pricey. not alot of them out there and the ones that have completed it say its a headache and must have deep pockets. go on club3g.com im a member on there and look at the 3g eclipses that have done it and read their thread, its the same thing as the galants.

So I'm keeping this part a secret until I receive it. Also I've been in the dsm game for years and know what corners I can cut. Its not pricey just hard to find certain parts. Honestly I don't have deep pockets by any means but I expect to be right at 4k to get it up and running with hopefully it will only be half of that money coming out of my pocket directly I buy and sell things all the time making profit all the time. The only thing left will be to sell the integra and I will be ahead of schedule. Also for all those who said they have seen this swap please double check your information this is the first of an 8g galants which are the 99-03 which are the same as most evos are using the builds you guys are talking about are the 7gs which are earlier year galants. Which in those years 1g/2g eclipse/talons use. So this will be the first complete builds even shep and Jake Montgomery. David bushcar havnt seen.

i think on club3g theres a white galant that already did this build. i remember reading this awhile back cuz alot fo the eclipse guys were asking him alot of questions so that they could do to theirs. im sure if i searched hard enough i could find that thread again. but im lazy so blah.

02-06-2010, 02:50 PM
if it's the white galant with carbon fiber hood and trunk, he has the rear end in the car but he doesn't have the trans or drive shaft in, so it's not complete he's stopped and started a starion build instead. he's the closest I've seen and a really smart guy.

this has been put on the back burner as of right now, I'm putting more of my attention to the family, more then cars, I've been tinkering off and on with just my integra and supra as of late, this project I've only been trying to really find the ebrake cable for a gsx, thats all. but hoping to still get it finished by jan/feb of 2011, honestly I don't see alot of problems with this once I get the ebrake cable and drive train and the drive train is a hell of alot easier then finding that dam cable.

dang Phillip I was hoping to see you at the Mitsubishi Shootout so you could demonstrate how much we suck at Inline Racing by destroying all of our EVO's with your Galant. Oh well, maybe next year, right?

have I ever been gone? why are you here, to troll threads that I post in and complain about me?
I was simply expressing my disappointment that Phillip is unable to back up his smack talk and show up to the Mitsubishi Shootout and attempt to destroy all of the ILR EVO's. I'm always up for a good challenge from competition. It's sad when they are unable to show up. As much smack that Phillip talks, it seems like he was actually going to follow through with his build. I guess he will remain "the guy that mikesrex beat in a foot race" lulz

it gave him a chance to explain why he hasn't built his car like he said he was. it's not too complicated, and it's not your business. if he wants to squash the beef, then that would be cool.

progress, update, so I've actually had these for a little bit now, but never really updated this section, so my rear subframe which is possibly one of the harder parts for me to get at a decent price came in with the control arms and sway bar, and also the evo 8 shifter cables and assembly. which will be needed for this, my wife told me I have to get her suv fixed before I buy more evo parts, and I've also been thinking of trading in the passat for a new daily after that so we shall see.
oh yeah and that is a 1.8 stock bottom end that the subframe is sitting on by the way...

Phillp has slung enough shit everywhere else to everyone else to earn any type of criticism in his threads. He had a chance to squash the situation and decided not to. I am simply holding him to his word on actually building a car. Hopefully one day he can get in his EVO-G or whatever the hell it's called and be competitive in a race to something other than a minivan with half it's cylinders deactivated.
