What brand helmet do you like?

Anyone ever use Shark?

I don't think Arai will have my business again. I am very displeased with the quality of their helmet. Shoei, Suomy, Shark, or even the high end Bell helmets. What do you guys like?

Just cheap to me. A helmet that cost as much as it, should not break as easy as it did. Fragile is not a word I like to use when describing parts on a helmet I have used at 160+mph.

The only problem I've had with my Arai is my side pod broke a clip, but they sent me a set of replacements free

That's the same thing that happened to me. The chin strap is starting the fray around the button too.

I have Arai and like them, but have a few shoei helmets, an HJC, a Bell, Schuberth (for the car). Usually build quality is not an issue with Arai, but any DOT or Snell approved helmet is fine. Just go try some on, find one that fits well and that you will wear......

Check to see if you have a jacket that has velcro at the top of it......I have a few of those ballistic jackets that have that and have found that they will fray the nylon on the strap of the helmet......

I don't believe either of my jackets have velcro on them but, I never thought about the jacket being the culprit.

I have a shoei helmet that I still need to get a new liner for, I like the design more than the arai but, I have extremely limited experience with helmets. I have been using an HJC lately. The HJC isn't all that comfortable to me and it's rather noisey over 90mph compared to the arai and the shoei.
I like arai for the most part, it's comfortable, pretty quiet (again I have limited experience with other brands) and light. I just don't like the design of the visor mechanism compared to other companies.

I would like to try a high end bell and shark sometime. Maybe next time I'm in ATX I can make it a point to shop around a little.

Shoei, they are light strong and they are the shit. pretty well priced for the upper brand helmets.
