I think the time for me to part ways with my Stealth is coming faster than I would like it to. I am seriously considering a Land Rover Discovery since I need a larger vehicle and something 4WD. Specifically this one (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=271896799&dealer_id=100027198&car_year=2003&rdm=1260308189964&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&model=DISCOV&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=100&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=y&make=ROV&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=mileageASC&address=77706&advanced=&end_year=2010&transmission=&doors=&max_price=9500&cardist=83&standard=false&rdpage=thumb).

Does anyone have any experience with these trucks or know of first hand knowledge of them? I am not looking for "Dude, I hear those things ..." since I know that you can't buy one and expect it to be dry underneath (kinda like a Jeep). I am also fairly mechanically inclined and am not worried about parts availablility.

I have had one and after about 50k miles it turned into a maintenance nightmare. I sold it not because I couldn't afford it but because I didn't have time to take it back and forth to the shop.

Hmm... So you would recomend shying away from them then? The one I linked to was a 2002 with 70 something thousand on it.

^^ I would listen to Ben. He has seen his fair share of vehicles. I like the corvette stories :rotfl:

I would stay away from it even though you are mechanically inclined. I had a brake master cylinder fail, window switch, a/c evaporator, heater core, power seat, windshield wiper motor......the list goes on and on. I mean, who hears of a windshield wiper motor going bad and then having something like $500 to fix it........

Should have gotten a chamois and rain-x

Haha... Ok. Looks like I might be rocking another Jeep Grand Cherokee again then. I had some issues with the one I had (1997) but as hard as I beat it, it never left me stranded. I have found a few 2002-2003's I like, too.

Sucks to hear about the LR Disco since I have wanted one since I was a kid, but I guess it is good I asked before making the plunge, huh?
