I think he's talking about the hood being 3" higher than normal near the cowl. I was wondering the same thing lol.

I have no idea what it's called. I know muscle car guys have been doing it for ages. My favorite part about it is that I can see underneath if I need to move the car while the hood is propped open.

I didn't know if it was to clear aftermarket engine stuff, keep the engine compartment from parachuting, make the car look "different", or to protect a fine set of those chrome windshield wipers. :D

actually it helps clear the valvecover and my throttle linkage for the ITB's. I still need to raise the front of the hood a quarter inch (or perhaps remove the webbing) as I can see where the valvecover still kisses the hood after I hammer on the car for a while. My main reason was to let fresh air go in for the ITB's.looking good mike....is that the pic you sent me earlier today
yeah basically, except I took this one at the same time with my Canon camera instead of my phone.

Yeah, but not everyone wants to simply go out and spend more money on a new hood when the current one works with 10 bucks in bolts and SS tubing. Spending more than you have to get the correct function is just plain poor engineering.

Spending money to modify a perfectly sound vehicle to begin with is poor engineering, but we all do it.

how would you know if it's poor engineering? it depends on the end result and the investment required. Are you an engineer?

if he's an engineer, he should understand what engineering does. you set a goal and you figure out the most profitable way to do it. Obviously building cars won't be profitable for most of us, so we figure out the cheapest way to get the job done well. That is good engineering.
so today my plan is to try to make it to evadale at about 2pm to see what my rex can do. I'm shooting for 12's today.

in no way do i see dumping money into a car an investment unless you're actually making money from it.
otherwise its just a money pit

An example of poor engineering is the hood not being able to close correctly. No I am not engineer. Are you an automotive engineer?

Timeslips:
First run, I had the slicks down to 10 psi, did a short burnout and made a shakedown pass just to see how the car felt down the track:
http://www.hi-upload.com/upload/uploaded12/mycrx201.JPG
Then I let the slicks down to 8psi, made another pass, this time actually running the car:
http://www.hi-upload.com/upload/uploaded12/mycrx202.JPG
Tire pressure was still pretty high after the run, so I let it down to 6psi. On this run I missed 4th gear. I have no idea how or why but it happens?
http://www.hi-upload.com/upload/uploaded12/mycrx203.JPG
I try to repeat the 8.05 1/8th mile ET to go after a quicker 1/4 ET, but that 8.05 was hard to get:
http://www.hi-upload.com/upload/uploaded12/mycrx204.JPG
I make one last run and get my best ET of the night. The car is running fine, giving me no problems whatsoever, and more cars are lining up to run. So I decide to call it a night. I did have problems with wheel hop on this last run, so I had to get out of first a lil early. I think that's why I cut 8.15 1/8th mile versus the 8.05 I did earlier. That 8.05 run was the run "that got away" lol.
http://www.hi-upload.com/upload/uploaded12/mycrx205.JPG
Anyways, not a bad day at all. Not bad for a full interior, pump gas (93 octane none of this E85 claiming pump gas BS), stock bottom end, stock header, open diff, NO traction bar setup and booboo suspension CRX, running 12's on 194 WHP against all odds, especially my heavy ass driving it.
