I've finally gotten myself into the habbit of consistently leaning far over my bike and into the curves, which has helped me acheive between 10 and 20 mph faster cornering exit speeds. :D
Any tips for cornering would be appreciated. I'll start off with what I do.
1. I don't take unknown corners hard. I always ride through a few times to learn the road, and then I start working on getting through the corner faster.
2. I approach the corner at speed and depending on whether or not the corner is fast ( above 50 mph, or slower below 50 mph ), I select my gear or ease the front brake well before approaching turn in.
3. Once I'm at the speed I know I'm going into the corner at, I approach wide towards the outside of the curve, lean off my bike and into the corner, keep my throttle steady, lean the bike towards the inside, accelerate outside and straighten up.
The fastet corner I've taken so far has been near 85 mph off Crab River Road in Sugarland. I was too focused on looking far ahead of the curve to worry about my body posture on the bike, but I know I should have been hanging my knee off the left side as it was a long left hand sweeper. When I ride with friends, they dust me cause their bikes are so much faster. I figure while I have the lil 250 though, I can work on perfecting my technique untill I get my step up bike.
