Just pre-ordered mine today. Any RSX people out there had experience with this intake?

I liked it when i had it on my car. Seemed like better throttle response and it definitely pulled in colder iats.

they still are lol. its a great show piece but it doesnt hold a candle up to a simple 3" velocity stack and a piece of 3" intake piping. i have one on my hatch but i didnt dyno with it.

Getting mine for 4 bills with a groupbuy. but that includes a new Odessey(?) battery and battery relocation kit plus the intake.

The intake by itself is $300. Not pocket change, but really not bad for PWJDM.

If I wasn't eventually going to go turbo this is what I would pick up. Looks clean though, I like.

thats not bad at all! found out my fucking A/C compressor is going out and I'm gonna get that fixed before I do anything else to my car. its making a whining noise and its killing me!

The problem with all other SRI's on the market (even the DIY ones) for the 8thgen is that the filter-on-a-stick places the air intake toward the back of the engine bay. And that's like 6-8 inches above the header. It really screws with you IATs, especially on a hot day. This new power chamber's filter placement is something new for us 8thgens. It's placement and the front left requires the battery replacement kit and a smaller (albeit more powerful) battery than stock which is why no other previous SRI's have been this way. We get the benefit of a CAI without the hassle/risk of potential waterlock.

Also, passwordJDM has scrapped at least one prototype design in the past for our car since they couldn't figure out a good MAF sensor placement to keep A/F ratios from jumping all over the place. Also, our stock intake includes MAF tubing vanes that guide the air over the sensor. This also had to be incorporated. So plenty of R&D went into this specific intake. I'm confident it's going to be a good one!

yea i think its bad ass for sure. it just sucks about the battery replacement kit too. 500 for an intake and that is just too much money for me to be honest with you.

Been there, done that, and I must say it was fun but the real power still lies in the CAI. Although the filter is placed further from the header there was still some heatsoak. Our engine layouts are similar. I had the same fear as you did with hydrolock (which I have done) in this area and that's why I initially went with it for my DC5...however after playing with that, an SRI, and a CAI, I just switch between CAI and SRI for hurricane season lol.

Would I recommend it? I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. Full on performance it still loses to a CAI, but beats an SRI. For show its always gonna turn heads and put a smile on your face. For safety well, 409 does rain and flood a lot so depending on where you are and how you drive, it is always nice to have the peace of mind versus worrying with a CAI.

Anywho on with the pics just for reference (yes this is a LONG time ago when it was first released for DC5 I had like the 6th one made):

A few good shots of the battery relocation (which was also an easy install):
