With all these pics floating around on the web I'm surprised people still ride around with just sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt. I rock full gear with the exception of leather pants.

I've seen a certain person ride around with a wife beater, shorts and no shoes.

I believe he goes by the name DBM these days. ROFL

fucking insane, this should be a sticky in the motorcyle section, a couple years back I was in houston near almeda for some reason I over shot the exit and when I found the first exit there was 2 guys appeared to have been racing in the rain I believe they only had helmets on and plain cloths, well they wrecked and both of them appeared to be dead or dieing I saw the straight fear in one guys eyes not sure if it was rain or crying but I know they were fucked up bad.

I see it every day and it makes me just wonder at the stupidity of the person riding. I'm a big boy ( in other words I have muscle padding..lol ), and I still ride with all my gear ( helmet, jacket, pants, boots, and gloves ) every time. I need a shower after I'm done riding no doubt, but I'd rather be sweaty than all banged up. Good reminder post.

Yeah man that's the best thing to do. Ride with gear no matter how hot it is or end up like them. But I can't say anything because I shouldve done the same, I rode with gear half of the time but a helmet and gloves everytime

If someone needs a reminder to wear gear they don't need to be riding. Plus a lot of the guys I know who ride think it's bad luck to look at stuff like that.

that'd be me

why do they think its bad luck? i think of it more as a real eye opener to what can happen to someone without gear

Just superstitious about it. I don't look at it either. People are fully aware of what they're risking when they ride. I've learned long ago you can show pics with people all mangled up all day long and preach about gear, but a squid is going to be a squid.

I don't want to ever get too comfortable on a bike. The fear motivates me to be more cautious, and seeing reminders, reminds me not to trust in that false sense of comfort.

that is absolutley insane. I do eventually want a bike but something tells me that drivers with four wheels and growing less cautious about motorcycles on the HWY and its kinda scaring me. I just want to have one to ride to ATX or the Lake or something.

My dad's been hit 3 times and his right leg is 1 1/2" shorter that the left. Also a lady crossed into 2 of my friends lane while going down Sarah Jane Rd. and the lead bike went down and my friend riding behind him hit the bike after the rider came off. A car pulled out in front of the same friend on Lucas and caused him the car. Now thats 5 accidents that have personally hit home for me, and NONE due to rider error.

true..a lot of accidents are caused by other drivers..you can be the best rider out there but there are still always going to be dumb drivers that dont pay attention to or respect motorcyclists and hurt or kill you. but then again, some accidents are also caused because of the rider.

some accidents are but i would say 95% of accidents are bc of that dumb ass on the cell phone that didnt want to check his blind spot!

Nothing, they were a hit and runs and no insurance. Then the one on Sarah Jane Rd. the van forced them off the road but never made contact with them so "legally" it wasn't the van's fault. I lucked up on that one because I was supposed to be there but had to wait on the FEMA inspector.
