View Full Version : Nippon oil & Eneos Full Synthetic
http://www.eneos.us/
I've been researching different brands of performance engine oil and have recently come accross this. Some various Toyota Supra threads I've ran over have discussed this product in detail and claimed to have recieved superior engine wear over the course of 150k miles of hard driving. I've read something about the united states mandating one of the key lubrication ingredients in synthetic motor oil (a zinc product ) be removed for compliance with cat convertors, and that this product has found a way to be as effective without the zinc. I'm thinking of usuing it on my si. Has anyone heard anything about or tried this product?

Don't get fancy with the oil. Just run Mobile 1 LOL
Its good enough to run 200k+ miles in a honda. :D

I would run a few changes with royal purple, then a few with mobil 1 in the rsx. I typically burned more oil using the royal purple than with the mobil 1. I'll wait till 9k miles is on the si before trying the Eneos synthetic, then I'll run at least a full 3k miles and give a review of if I noticed any gains or not (mpg increase or some other noticable gain). Hell, I might even do a before and after dyno just for the fuck of it. I've been wanting to do that. My favorite tec at Classic Acura told me that one of the reasons my rsx burned so much oil was because i had used synthetic since the first oil change and had never given the seals time enough to do their job. BS???? The other reason he said was because of my cai which he claimed contributed to increased oil burn. BS??? I burned at times as much as a full quart between 3k mile oil changes in the rsx. Any of you high revvers on here had any problems like that with your engines? Mark can attest to how anal (yes I said anal) I was with keeping up my rsx.

Pick an oil and stick with it. Some people swear by certain oils. I run what the car came from the factory with. I will more than likely run whatever my tuner tells me once I throw all the turbo junk back under my hood.
I don't know how a cai would make your car drink oil. LOL There are multiple things that can cause a car to burn oil but, to my knowledge a cai wont cause any of this. Cracking ring lands will definitely do it HAHAHAHAHA.
"I don't know how a cai would make your car drink oil"
I actually talked with Acura of North America on this one. Every Honda I've ever owned burned a little oil. Especially my higher revving ones. I've read they were designed to burn a little bit, anyways, the Head Service tech told me that with the increased air flow coming off the cai, it caused the car to burn more oil than stock. He claimed many rsx s's with cai's had similiar complaints. I just always kept an extra quart in the garage and would check my oil level weekly.

When my car was turbo it didn't drink any more oil than it did when it was on motor which was NONE. At least, it didn't drink oil until the ring lands cracked. I will keep an eye on my oil level. I am rev'ing my car a little higher than stock rsx's rev and I have a ricer intake.
How is increased air flow going to make the car "drink" oil? I could understand a little oil being burnt threw the pcv system. But, not much. Depending on how the pcv system is ran in a turbo car, it may seem to drink oil but, you weren't turbo.
Who knows? LOL
Google rsx's and oil burn off. I ran across many peoples having the same problem with their rsx as I did. I check my oil biweekly after I had a tech scold me once with my 99 si. I had been driving it for two years with nearly 60k miles on the car. I brought it in for a routine coolant flush at Honda, and the tech heard valve slap. He said it needed a valve adjustment. I said go for it. I drove that car hard as hell back and forth from Lake Charles to Lumberton which is why it needed a valve adjustment at only 60k. Over an hour straight in fifth gear at 90 mph and 5k rpms three nights a week for two years straight. Many I-10 hiway races to 8k along with that too! :vtec: When he puled off the valve cover, he showed me how tarnished my engine was. It was almost a copper color. He said this was because I had been burning oil and not keeping enough in the crank case. I also listened to some bad advice once from a service guy once who told me I could go 6k miles between oil changes while using royal purple. :banghead: Since then, I add oil if even a tad off from the top level of the marker.
