View Full Version : New car!
I bought a brand new 08 Si sedan. It's white and beautiful! Most of you know I had an 03 rsx-s, and then I got a 07 accord se last summer. The accord wasn't me, so now here's to my thrid Si! Coming out of the accord, most anything would feel sportier, but I have already noticed some differences on this car vs the rsx. Most notably how I can cruise around in a much higher gear. Its almost wierd to feel torque in the new si while in fifth gear doing 42. I always felt like in my rsx, if I wasn't at leat pushing 3k rpms above 2nd gear, I had no power. The si isn't like that, and I can't wait to break it in and get up on it. Of course one of the main reasons I bought the car was for handling (i got the 4 door so I could grow into the car if need be), and so far the handling is everything I wanted. I took a sharp offramp s turn coming home last night in 4th gear, and it was so responsive. I love it. I will get rougher with it once broke in and write something more in depth later on.

That seems like the perfect car for you Ryan! I cant wait to see it in person. But make sure you give us a full review once you have broke it in. And make sure you post up some pics too! :zing:

I'm in love all over again haha. I just finished putting the 2cd coat of wax and will get some photos up tonight. Now I'm just trying to decide between the aem or injen cai to go along with a skunk 2 70mm. What do you guys think. Is there really even a difference betwen the two cai's?
:vtec:
I think it may be personal preference with the two CAI's. I know it pretty much is with the s2k.

wrd. i think a cai is a cai. although i have seen a few injen intakes tear apart at the welds.

My friend Colby in Bmt has an 06 si coupe, and he swears by the k&n sri. I'll probably just flip an f'n coin cause I'll drive myself batty trying to debate it.

an CAI is a CAI they all do the same. you won't miss or feel that one extra or less hp from choosing the wrong one.

I know this. My rsx ran an aem cai 4 years and 75k miles, but i'm still going to debate "the right one" untill i decide. After it's intsalled, I'll swear it's "the best one" on the market as long as i have it. lol

Don't mess with an after market TB. Find someone selling a used intake pipe and get a BPI velocity stack with a k&n filter.

Are you telling me to make my own intake?

agreed. you will feel alot better about yourself and its alot more bang for the buck
I open to all suggestions and recomendations as long as they won't throw any cels or risk reliability of the car.

I didn't even wait untill the tank was empty, and I filled it up at 252 miles. I used up 8.8 gallons of fuel and it avg's out to 28.6 mpg! I put 35 psi in all 4 tires, and have been driving between 2.5 and 4k rpms, with a few easy pulls to 5k. I love the gearing on this car, and was dumb-founded when I calculated the mpg's of my first fill up. I drive a decent amt of hwy, but its in Houston traffic with alot of stop and go or 35mph 4th gear cruising. Thought this was cool and wanted to share.
:drink2: CHEERS!
Second fill up at 243 miles (I'm filling up before tank gets below 1/4 full) 243 miles / 8.3 gallons of premium gives me 29.3 mpg! I am driving the cr now that it has 495 miles on the odo more aggressive, alot more 4.5 k to a lil over 5k rpm runs, and I am more agressive with the throttle and rev matching downshifts than the first tank. I think once I get a few thousand miles on the engine and it really begins to loosen, 30mpg won't be hard at all. My rsx never got better than 27mpg.
:drink2: cheers to the si
I finally got up on the car. One pull in third to 6.5k, one in 4th to 7k, and then a good strong 4th gear pull to 8k. I also ran a strong 2cd thru 4th gear pull. The cars pulls gard, is very smooth, and disapointingly QUIET! I will definitley have to to install some aftermarket to get it where I want it to be.

I don't have a digital camera, so I will borrow my roomates. However; if you are dying to see it, just go to www.honda.com and build a white 08 si sedan. It looks just like that one.

haha. Glad you are enjoying the car man! I am ready to see that thing in person!

Awesome! I really like the new Civics. I haven't ridden in the new Si's but my friend has an '08 EX with leather and Navi and it's super nice. Congrats :)
Thank you!

There was a new white civic SI 4dr going through the last red light in Bridge City going toward PA this morning around 7:30-8 wouldn't happen to be you?

No, I was in rush hour Houston morning traffic about that time.
This is my last mpg spill for this car I swear! I have roughly 760 miles on the car, and this last tank of gas I was very aggressive. I made more than a few handfuls of high reving runs, and stayed in the red zone just to let the car get used to being there a good couple of times. I also ran it full throttle alot more, and just basically woke the car up to the reality of why I purchased it in the first place. I filled up today, and averaged 25.6 mpg! How can you ask for much more?
:drunk: To Honda

thats awesome man! Even though I own a Honda I can't say I get near that. I average about that not in the throttle.

damn! that sucks Mark...and your car isn't even that fast! :lawl: j/j! but yeah ryan! it gets good gas milage WHENEVER the foots off the pedal! hehehe! i still love my RSX though! :vtec:
Top end on this car is awesome! This K20z3 is already my favorite. Even more than my K20a2. The gearing keeps me feeling like I have some level of power in most any gear from only 2k revs on up, but the "on cam" feel right around 6200 revs on up is awesome! I can hear a change in engine noise at 5800 rpms, but I feel the change at 6200 rpms. It evens registers as an actual pull in my stomache, albeit a small one, it's still a pull coming from a small Honda. The change in balanced shafts with this engine keep it smooth, and I don't ever feel like I am doing the engine harm by revving it. It's so very easy to spool this engine up. There is a huge parking garage when coming in to work. It's four stories tall, with two sub levels. 6 levels of parking total. The stock exhuast right near 2k rpms will set off car alarms! Its makes a real low pitched drone that I can feel. Geeky for sure, but not bad for stock exhaust. I'm not even going to mess with my exhaust for now. Its good enough. I've really gotten the car to start acting smoother in all scenarios. It's got 1200 miles on it, shifts smooth, rev matches easy, grips like a mexican whore in the twisties, and sings like a pissed off banshee when pushed hard. I love the four doors, love how tame the car looks on the outside (I sped past a cop the other day and didn't even get pulled over, this would not have happened in my artic blue RSX!), and of course I love the fuel economy. Mark asked me for a full review when I first got it, and I think I've covered it all. If I ever do any serious mods, or dyno it before and after it's first synthetic change (just to see if it really helps), I'll post an update.
Thanks for that review Ryan. I really do like the 4 door SI's even more so after hearing what you had to say about it. You will have to take me for a ride sometime!
I'm bringing the girlfriend home to Lumberton this weekend. Anytime you want!
