Anyone have any experience installing a crank, idle, and /or alternator pulleys? I bought some NST pulleys like 6 months ago and still haven't put them on. Apparently, Honda crank pulley bolts are a PITA to get off and I definitely don't have the tools to do it (air gun, etc). I did get the Honda crank pulley hex tool that's supposed to help.

Anyone wanna help a brotha out? I can pay you for your time/effort!

Will probably also need an angle grinder to grind down my torque damper bracket a little to make room for the idle pulley.

i never really worked on a k20 but i guess its doesnt really matter i use a puller and it comes off like in 2 sec. is not hard and to install it back is easier. Theres no real science behind it and i think you can rent the tool at your local auto part store. Also i just finish reading your full post and you provably already know that. I have all the tools to help you out just dont have the time lol maybe on the weekend lmk.

I personally wouldn't run under drive pulleys. But, I have pulled a few pulleys off my car for different reasons.

Just curious...but why wouldn't you? Heard any horror stories about them on our motors?

Actually, the crank is 15% underdrive and the alternator is 15% overdrive in my kit.

I have never had a reason to swap the stock pulleys out. They have always worked fine for me. IMO they are expensive for the power you will gain. I would rather ditch the complete ac system, stock alternator and h2o pump to run a dseries alternator and an electric pump *if* I was looking for power out of the serp. system. You may as well start looking around for a types oil pump so you can have the difference in power between the 05+types and SI.

Not to mention, I wouldn't want to reduce the the speed of the belt that runs the water pump by 15% on my daily driver. Some people may praise the things and claim all kinds of power numbers but, I personally wouldn't run them.

Not to argue with you because you definitely know more about my car than I do, lol.....but, the newer idler pulley is slightly different than stock to compensate for the 15% underdrive of the crank and 15% overdrive of the alternator. NST's kit is designed so the idle/water pump runs at the same speed as stock if I'm not mistaken.

I assume the crank pulley will drive the system 15% slower. The alternator is 15% overdriven to compensate for the difference in speed for the whole system. Meaning the waterpump and ac compressor are both running 15% slower. Thats about the only way I could understand it.

Listen to Matt on this one. He has taken the whole damn K20 apart and put it back together..

Okay, so some dude on 8thcivic was running these and his NST idle pulley shattered. Even though he was boosted, I'm still not feeling good about these now. Gonna sell 'em.
