I'm already putting my 240sx build, well the car is a 91 I believe gotta look at the title again. Now I'm planning on getting another wrecked 91 240sx that I can take all the bolts and drive shaft off and upgraded suspension and the exhaust, now motor wise the wrecked car might have a messed up motor, my question is I have another friend who is selling a dohc ka motor. I know that it will bolt up but do I need to get a dohc wiring harness and ecu or anything else, so that way I can have a dohc motor, sohc tranny, and sohc wiring and ecu will that work or do I need to get some other stuff. this is a thought just to get it running and until I can find a dohc tranny. also just a random thought will the motor mounts work with sohc mounts and dohc motor.
thanks for the help guys
phillip.

is your 240 a coupe? Oh yeah I have some answers to your questions, you will need a DOHC gauge cluster, wire harness and ecu all else I am almost possitive should be the same :D

it's a hatchback, I know the motor that previously was in it was a dohc ka, so I'm sure the gauge cluster will work, glad in away my friend blew his 240sx dohc motor and I can steal his wiring harness. and some other stuff.
oh yeah this is brads old old black 240sx, should be getting a widebody kit and paint soon.

awwww thanks! ! !
I was just trying to keep a count on how many coupes there are "drifting" from around here, not that yours will be anyway ;)

for a dohc ka swap in a single slammer you will need the following:
engine
ecu
harness
ignition coil (depending on year of ka24de)
tranny
powersteering pump, lines, and tank (if you want it)

you dont really need the wiring of a 91 but it would be easier and let me know if you need any parts you seen my garage lol..

phiilip go with s14 i love how wide the wheel base is for driftting, and dont for get to kick in the clutch while in a turn:vtec:

yea but s14's have a shitty rear suspension thats notorious for creating massive amounts of toe out in the turns.

I've decided to go sohc ka, 200 for a full donor car with running motor can't beat that. going to drift it a little thats all. so no more major hp goals for this thing.

well you need some hp to drift it a little. and a stock sohc ka isnt going to do the trick..if you just want to have some fun boost the stock sohc ka. Ive seen a stock block sohc ka with a t3 turbo running at 15lbs daily. Runs still to this day and its been 4 years. lol

stock ka is plenty of power to drift. unless your trying to compete in D1 Pro or Formula D Pro.
main problem is the jank ass open diff. but all this is useless information since ill be buying my shell back once phillip realizes that 240's are out of his league.

what the league of not running, you've spent so much time and money on this ls1 build. you never could make an sr20 fast. hell you were the slowest of the bunch back in the day. and what makes this sr20 you have now any better. seriously if the league of 240 is lead by you brad. I'd give you both shells for free.

Phi just get your rear welded so you can predict your turns better. if you stay stock then the car is going to be to wild for you to control.:vtec:
