lets all wear our hearts on our shoulders... its the new thing in 09 :mynameisben:
and yes SSR has been knocking off larger companies for years. ill give them credit for being better at it than most other companies. but SSR hasn't come out with an original sole proprietary design that Ive ever seen. (worth buying)

i mean if this is the case lol Kosei's are knockoff Buddyclubs...

also what are VF1's? we are talking SP1's

i think this is the link you where looking for sambo

http://www.more-japan.com/SSR/sp1/18inch.php

not to mention most of those badass sizes are discontinued. theres a reason most people just bought works lol. much easier to come by.

my bad playa. i guess its just every set ive seen on every car has been shitty. anywho, the best thing ssr every made was old school stuff (super mesh, ect.). and i agree with brad i'll miss the varienza probly the most. miester will always be readily available used.

Yea I think u got ur facts mixd up on buddyclub. Kosei sold the wheel rights to buddyclub.

NO KNOCKOFFS. SAME WHEELS SAME DESIGN SAME MOLD.

Same situation with SSR and Work.

_Brad
01-05-2009, 08:36 PM
seriously? pfft this is is about as funny as people who consider MB Battles as CST Hyper Zero knockoffs when they are both deliberate knock offs of my favs Advan T6's

Type C - Advan RG
LR7 - AME Shallen WX
Type F - Volk CE28 (arguable)
MS1 - Work VSXX

jeremys14
01-05-2009, 08:38 PM
ok. back to topic people. this isn't a knockoff thread.

SamBo
01-05-2009, 08:40 PM
Both companys have been around for a very long time!!!!

even Work and Volk wheels looked alike back in the day. Volk/rays VRX10's, racing III's, playton place look like Work VS mesh and essfida(SP?).. even Volk and SSR had similar Mesh wheels.

old skool BBS and SSR mesh even look alike.

So calling it a knockoff just isnt right. only knockoff companys ot there and there r many EX. Rota r truley knock offs.

jeremys14
01-05-2009, 08:41 PM
ok. point made. i guess it comes down to who put it out first. anyway get back on topic biatches. any more posts about knockoff ect. will be deleted.

SamBo
01-05-2009, 08:51 PM
sorry Jeremy ... back on topic.

work has added new wheels to its very popular Emotion line up. I hope they do come up w/ better designs

_Brad
01-05-2009, 08:53 PM
personally the older style wheels like mid 90's selection from every JDM company where the best. everything now is too rigid looking, or what i refer to as the "Super Street" look. the designs that only look good on magazine cars and no wherez else. the older stuff always seemed as more timeless designs such as

BBS Mesh style
Advan spokes (RG, T6, SA90)
Works Emtions
Volks Gramlights (early series)

jeremys14
01-05-2009, 08:54 PM
i hope so too, but personally i like the old schools such as the old equips (not the 5 spoke ones), old meshes, ect. i think alot of the newer stuff coming out is too flashy.

hell the 5 spoke equips will never die.

flashyness comes from the new chassis designs. they all have sharp body lines, especially nissan.

hell work emotions are the staple wheel for 240's beside 5 Zigen Fn01r's both are curvy wheels. but either wheel to me looks really funny on lets say a Z33 or R34

the older stuff just doesnt look right on newer cars.

hell imagine the G on a set of 57 pro's

or Sambo's Wrx on a set of SA90's (actually no, that would look pretty slick)

well but fwd offsets still look good on awd chassis.

i remeber on my last trip to houston i saw a white evo 8 on some chrome mesh wheels staggered and that mother looked wicked. dont know why more people dont do that. ive heard something about its not good for the driveline but i cant logically see how.

SamBo
01-05-2009, 09:27 PM
Looks wise idk.. staggered is truly meant for FR cars.. and me and high offsets mix like water and oil.

plus this pretty much expresses how i feel

the thread is just a general discussion about wheels that are discontinued..
i mean ppl are posting threads of the new GTR and the issues it was having and whatnot.. wouldnt that be considered "useless piss" im sure 99.9% of the board will never be able to afford a GTR therefore its just useless information..

wow. if you don't want to read this thread then don't. this topic obviously doesn't peak your interest so why come in and post nonsense like that.

its not like you have any "real life" experiences with them, unlike some of the posters in this thread that do. do your research before speaking please.

I'm just wondering what yall have owned. Yall talk as if you've had tons of these wheels. At least I can say for a fact that I have driven and raced on several sets of "rare" wheels over the years, and I can throw a set on the rex whenever I would want. You make it seem like owning a single set of "rare" wheels makes you some expert or something. Oh well, to each his own.

backwoods
01-06-2009, 05:26 PM
I concur with you Mr. Mike. Not owning one set makes me or anyother person an expert. I have done tons and tons of reading on current and past wheels and proud myself on knowing.
