Ok so the idea is to get a new car. I thought about my options due to price and payments monthly etc. etc. It came down to a fit. They have a Blackberry Pearl 5spd fit sport right now.. which i am able to pick up whenever i decide. The question is to do it or not. Picking up the fit means losing my ek. So a little help/ advice/ fit inspiration would be much appreciated.

Nothing wrong with me having the EK. I just prefer to have something newer and the fits are growing on me.. i test drove it today and worked out everything already to see the pricing and what i'd be expecting to pay.. which everything seems reasonable with my funds.
A little outside advice never hurts. + i never see any clean fits local and would like to be one of the few

It all depends on finances really.

Personally speaking, I would drive what you have until you're finished with school (I'm just assuming you're in the round-about age that I am (early 20's)), just because school should be your main focus, not a car note.

But the only way to get rid of that "I want a new car" attitude is.....a new car.

Just add ALL of your finances up, and if you're comfortable with the money you have left over from your income then go for it...can't go wrong with the Fit:thumbsup:

Thats too damn funny. Research in motion had to of paid Honda to name the car that. No way its just coinsidence.

BTW: I am not trying to be an ass and knock you car choice down, but if you are interested in acceleration at all. Keep what you have and get what you'd really like once you're done with school. The fit is a nice car and I have read it handles really well, but w/out an engine swap I haven't seen one perform too well with just the standard 1 1/2.

IMO: You should take your car and half the $$ you plan on throwing to the fit, and build a super bad ass ek. Just my opinion bro.

Well this would basically be the only thing i have to pay for. The price of the car is roughly 16k brand new which isnt bad at all.. and the monthly notes are give or take around $300 or so. I took the time to go and price it all out today to make sure i could afford it. 300 a month isnt really a hassle considering i usually burn that much and have nothing to show for it. If anything this will help me manage my money better.

As for the power aspect. I hardly care about being "fast" anymore.. its mainly reliability i am aiming for. And i want something new and the price tag on this thing isnt overwhelming. I'll have it paid off in no time ( ill be paying more than the required monthly amount ) + it has K potential.. or even boosting the sohc it has is an option. Either way... i test drove it today and it is really growing on me

As much of a Honda fan as I am, I would probably get something else used for 16k. You can really buy a lot for that much money.

Man, I say keep the ek. As far as my opinion, I don't think its worth it for its price. Looks more like a $12K to $13K car.

I agree. I was considering going to the Fit last year after I sold my Rsx. My logic was that I was going into outside sales in Houston, and that with all the driving I'd be doing, the fuel economy and size would serve me well in Houston traffic. I test drove the Fit, and it felt so vulnerable to me. That was with me coming out of a small rsx too. I say get what you want and screw what anyone else thinks, but buying an automobile ( I've bought five ), is something you have to live with for a while. Conisder this car HARD as something you might soon outgrow. One more thing and then I'll quiet up . You said the 08 Fit. Well, the 09's are already out and are supposed to be a better Fit. That will reduces the value of that new 08 Fit as soon as you drive it off the lot. As where you typically are a few K in the hole once you drive a new car off the lot anyways, the fact that the 09's are a redesign is gonna add alot more K's to the reduction in value. Major negative equity. Unless they wanna sell that 08 fit for 11k, I say pass. Good luck bro!

my opinion is a lil bias but i would say fit. Theyre good cars and plenty of room. There is hardly any point to ask other ppl cuz you will always get the same responses no matter what the question is since everyones opinion differs. Get it if you can see yourself happy with it for about 40 years to come since thats hondas general life span haha. Plus we need a good fit rollin around here. Be the first!

Ok first off I would say get the FIT. Then I learned from Mark that you would be trading in the EK (bad move). So now I would definitely say keep your ride because you will regret getting rid of it. I know when I got rid of my 04' STI for a damn jacked up GMC Sierra, i was royally pissed after a few days. So all in all, keep the EK.

well i actually decided to go ahead and get an 09' and would still be paying roughly the same per month. The bodies on the 09s look a lot better and i would actually get a color "i want" just cant really decide between black or white. but im about 95% set on the fit at the moment.. as much as they are asking for the 08 the 09's arent too far away.. id much rather spend the difference and get what i "want" and not settle for less

i wouldnt technically be trading it in.. just selling to it to a fellow forum member who is in need of a ride... but like i stated im only 95% which still isnt 100%

black does look good but the thought of seeing it dirty all the time and all the swirls in the paint would kill me. The swirls on black is what would drive me crazy. You will pretty much always have swirl marks visible on black too. I love the color but I just don't know if I could own a vehicle that color.

I would maybe make an exception for David's NSX though. :D

ok so i been comparing the 08's to teh 09's like a detective and honestly i think the 08's look a hella of a lot better. the front is smaller and the body is a bit more square which i like.

iheartJDM
11-25-2008, 10:26 PM
plus on the 09's they have that huge ass window by the side view mirrors and the grill is like etchy not really smooth like the 08's. so im really leaning toward a white 08 at the moment. it should come out hella nice

Hmm I know you've made a decision already but I'm still going to throw my $.03 into it. I see it as having 3 options.

1. Keep the Ek and use the money you'd be spending on a Fit and use it for something else. I'm not going to throw your business out there for those who dont know it, but I think you should use that money to take care of business. I mean think of the future not of the present. Use that money for SCHOOL, get that stuff done, use that $300 a month for your school loan (when you get in to school). You don't want to be stuck in a dead end job for the rest of your life fool. Get an education, then a real job making 2-4x what your making now, then get a new car.. a car that you really want not a car that is new and you can afford to pay but you had to grow into liking. Seriously.. Think of the future not the present. Nothing is wrong or un reliable about the EK right now other then the steering problem when torque is applied, but its not affecting its driveability or reliability. Your plans for the Fit were the same as the plans for the Ek anyways, dump+ wheels+lip. Besides your getting the same MPG roughly.. and your not being a taxi to need more space for ppl atm. I can keep on going with this subject but eh we'll save that for saturday in person, assuming you havent already got the car.

2. Keep the Ek, and since your not putting a down on the Fit then you'd have a toy plus a nice beater. Keep the fit stock or add the wheels+drop+lip. Have extra money left over monthly to drop into the toy. You'd have a reliable car and a car you can play in but still look good and have AC.

3. The plan you have now. Buy the Fit, sell the Ek, pay $18k;$300 a month for so many months. I have monthly payments but its for a car that I wanted and love to drive. The car didn't have to grow on me, I loved it since I sat in one years ago and then sat in another one years later (a few months before i got mine) The payments aren't bad and I dont mind having it simply because I love the car.

Honestly if I were in your position I'd go with choice one. Its financially the best way to go and it doesn't only help now, but later as well. :beavisbutthead: Regardless in the end the car you end up with will be a four-seater hatch with a single cam getting 30+mpg and weighing 2400lbs while looking like a shoe. Ek= Converse Fit= Jordans? lmao Anyways I may be starting to rant here but shit its 2am.. i got class in the morning.
Anyways, just from a brotherly POV since we're pretty much family just think about it.. give it lots of thought and plan ahead. There is nothing wrong with the ek you have now, you just want something new. You even mentioned the possibility of future K swap or boost of the Fit. It'd be much cheaper in a Ek im sure. Oh ok... im almost sure im rambling now.
Deuces we can discuss this further another time lols. Get a piece of paper write the pros/cons of both keeping the ek or buying the fit. Keep in mind and think about what that monthly payments can be used for.

I'll use myself as example for no reason. Im making $600-800 a month at Tokyo (gey place and money I know. I know.) I can be working more and just paying for my and using the extra money for parts or payments. But I'm just working to pay for the car+ gas and if i have any extra money I use it to go out and enjoy the money I've been working for or save the extra bucks a month and buy clothes/car parts. If I dont get an education now I'll prolly end up doing the same ole shit for years and making $1-1.5k a month opposed to going to school then getting that weekly( or daily for others). I have thought about dropping out of college already and its only my 1st semester.. thought about it.. and I want to be banking, not just living check to check every month so I'm sticking with school. Its time to see the light, get the job done man, I dont want to see you fall behind later in life while Tony and I are out there having a better quality of life after college. You mentioned doing it time and time again but I see no effort to start. Get 'er done!
Education now= Money later.
Money now w/o education= the same money you'll be making later..
Learn off of other ppl we know and use their mistake to learn from as well. Im not going to put Aaron on the spot, but we know what he's been through and where he is now. Resorting the "armed forces" and what not now..
i think?:thinker::confused: oh lord i've dosed 2 times in this post. Night errbody

i know exactly what you're saying and understand the point coming across. And trust me when i tell you this "things are gonna happen" ill save the rest for the 1 on 1 in person.. but for the most part.. since i actually have hardly any use for my money and i WASTE this much every month.. i figured it would actually help me manage my money and putting it to good use instead of saying.. damm i spent a few hundred this month and have nothing to show for it? So i really see no point as into why i cant do both. i mean im working decent hours and im pretty much able to take off or add on shifts whenever needed. and if needed i can always bring school work to my job.. not like i do much there but sit around so there will always be time to study. There's always options and choices to be made.. some good, some not so good. But i mean thinking about it financially i'll still be able to "make things happen" even with the note. But yeahh ill save the rest for person
