Skoodles
05-07-2008, 07:07 PM
got all my parts in. already went put oilpump/water pump and tensioner on. started thinking im missing something. Left my oilpan gasket at work:mattsgay:LAME so i get to waste more time driving back to port neches to go get it. but other than a v/c gasket the fluids my motor should be done tonight. then i just got a lil soldering to do. either modify shift linkage or buy hasport. and 1 female axle. And i got some big ass cable thinking of making my own power-grown system. i dont think the factory stuff is gonna cut it.

when are you going to have it running?

i still got some stuff to
wire up. msd box and coil, o2 sensor.
need msd cap converted for ext coil
msd wires
fluids.
pickup my radiator
1 female end axle
1 belt
valve cover gasket.
maybe a week or 2 would be the shit. but i got some bills coming up so we'll see.
and figure out how ima hook up the throttle cable. but once i got it in last night i didnt fuck with it anymore.

Matticus
05-08-2008, 10:49 AM
Call me when you get home tonight. I'm gonna help Mike detail his civic, prolly chunk my motor BACK in the rsx and stop by. Its not even 10:00 yet, I think I have plenty of time.

projectcivicjp
05-08-2008, 10:56 AM
whats up with your throttle cable?

that sounds good dude! I'll have mine running next Saturday. I'll bring the video camera and get mike to film the start up and me going around the block. I'm ready for all of us to get our cars on the road and to the track!

Skoodles
05-08-2008, 11:21 AM
whats up with your throttle cable?

the ctr manifold is different and has a different bracket for the cable on the manifold wich i dont have. and im not sure if i gotta have that brack + the type-r cable or make my own bracket for my factory cable to it.

Skoodles
05-08-2008, 12:27 PM
when i get home ima. lower the front crossmember and put the header in. i tried to have it sitting in place while i lowered the motor in but it wasn't co operating so i said ill just do it this way.

that and work on the wiring.

hey jp whats the possibility of getting that radiator today?

well header doesnt clear the front crossmember i thought it did with the ls head so i dunno:thinker: guess ima have to buy some sort of traction bar system. ima try and get all the wiring i need to finish done tonight.
still debating on cutting my shiftlinkage or ordering hasport.

projectcivicjp
05-08-2008, 09:06 PM
oh ok yea I ordered the itr Tb and it was pretty cheap. like 14 shipped.
that sucks to hear about your header man! im sorry to hear that. the car gods have cursed us for sure!

Skoodles
05-09-2008, 09:01 AM
i decided ima just spend the 120bucks and buy hasport shiftlinkage.
all the traction bars for the EF are pretty expensive. pluss i gotta find one thatll clear the header.

i found out the type-r throttle cable and throttle cable bracket will fix my cable problem. found a site bout40-50bucks for both.

today im debating where i want to mount my msd box. and coil. get all that wired up. then all i gotta order is the conversion cap to ext coil. and wires.

im picking my radiator and hoses up hopefully today thnks to jp:beavisbutthead:

I NEED the engine harness side of a 4 wire honda o2 sensor. if anyone got an old wiring harness lying around LMK.

Skoodles
05-09-2008, 10:14 AM
talked to my boss he said we'll try and cut and reweld my shiftlinkage and if it doesnt work out right then ill buy hasport.

projectcivicjp
05-09-2008, 10:46 AM
im gonna call my little brother and tell him to get it out clean it up with a rag and get it real pretty for you!

Yea i forgot to tell you lol. I didnt even snap to you not having the itr throttle cable. thats exactly what I ordered and it looks clean. I've seen it done half ass (manifold install) and it looked like garbage with a gsr tb cable.

i found some good traction bars for 318 shipped on honda-tech made by L-con. I've heard some good stuff on their thread.

call me during lunch time

i decided to keep my hatch and finish the swap. i mounted my msd last night.
And as soon as this honda-tech sponsor gets some more of the innovative traction bars in im sending my order in should be tomarow or saturday.

the only traction bar now for the ef that has dual post on the LCA so they dont twist like they do when using heim joints on both ends like other style traction bars.

fail

you don't use come-alongs on that body style.

just use metal bushings with the stock setup. but like you said, the stock crossmember is too bulky and gets in the way.

Skoodles
05-15-2008, 04:06 PM
i had brought my boss the bushings to get his friends at flowserve fab the metal bushing but good thing i decided not to.:mynameisben:

Skoodles
06-07-2008, 06:54 PM
well i put a starter in it. hooked up some battery wires. finally got power back into the car. was gonna go ahead and crank it but i still cant find my crank pulley bolt. thats pretty much only thing stopping me from spinning it over at the moment.

Skoodles
06-08-2008, 10:48 PM
well i spun it over today. sounded good for a motor with no fuel or spark. but i went back few hours latter to do hit the key again and now the car wont do anything. the fuel pump wont come on anymore when i hit the key and starter doesn't click. weird thing is the head lights don't come on now either but when you turn the switch on all the lights on the dash light up and the temp gauge max's out. before with the key out no dash lights would pop up with the headlight switch turned on. got new battery connectors. its gotta be a ground or a relay cause it was working fine early today. so hopefully get pass this soon. get some fuel to it and crank it.

projectcivicjp
06-09-2008, 06:37 AM

well i got it to crank today:beavisbutthead:. i need to do a compression test im a lil worried i swapped plugs and one of the old ones was soaked in fresh oil i had spun the motor over with no fuel or spark with old plugs in it. im not sure if i got oil down the tube cause i poured oil in with out the valve cover on or if its head gasket or bad machine work ill get a compression gauge from work tomorrow. I went back to get it on video but the battery is already too weak so its sitting on the charger again.

I stopped by with a compression tester yesterday, the #2 cyl. was 30psi less than the other 3. He has a bunch of random things he still needs to take care of. Hopefully, he gets everything going pretty soon.

JP's car is already running.

sounds like a good idea to be on the lookout for another shell. just get your problems straightened out on the current one while you are on the hunt for the new one.

the good thing about it is you can swap over almost all of your stuff to a newer car.

and still sell the mounts, da hubs, walbro pump::new car has one::, tranny, shift linkage, and just part out the shell that i paid 100bucks for so i think i would still come out ahead. and the car im getting i could always sell the swap thats in it.
