Got some 17x8 rims from a fellow rx7 owner for FREE. They have a few scratches here and there but are actually in very good condition. Contemplating on keeping them silver, or going gunmetal, gloss black, or gloss black with a red lip... here is a cpl pics of the rims. What are yalls thoughts?

Bronze only looks good on white cars IMO... Was thinking about rattle canning them but idk how that will turn out. Has anyone had a set of wheels painted? And how much was it?

That actually doesn't look half bad... its gonna be a few weeks before they are mounted up because of work and whatnot, plus I need tires and a few other things but I will post pictures when its all finished up

just get them powdercoated doing it right the first time will cost you less in the long run. i think satin black would do well on your car

 Just make sure they prep your wheels right.Extreme didn't prep colton's very well and one wheel had some powdercoat come off during mounting.

I was gonna blast them at a friends shop to get all the old coating off of them before I painted or powder coated them. It will only be temporary because I do actually plan on running some old school 15 inch deep dish wheels when I buy some. These 17s aren't really the style I want for the car. But were free so I can't complain
i would mount them as is first and see how they look before i changed anything,

As is=curb rash and a cpl chips in the original coating. Got some satin black and some stuff to clean, sand, and prep them. Gonna work on them while I'm working nights this week. Not really a rush tho cuz I still need adapters and tires

Painted 2 of them at work cuz I didn't figured id have time to sand, clean, prime and paint all 4 of them. Sanding took a long time but I wanted a good clean surface for the paint to stick to. But I think tonight I'm gonna do the other 2 with a red lip and see how it looks then decide which oay to wo with it... I looked for bronze but couldn't find the dark shade that I wanted

Ya... well actually I went to walmart cuz my stupid work gave me a gift card for walmart for a freakin safety bonus (cheap skates)... but autozone and advanced only had light and dark silver wheel paint. I just got the good krylon paint so hopefully it sticks =/

alright i bought some lug nuts off of ebay (which are for sale in the classifieds section) and they are too big for the holes in the wheels. they are 12mm by 1.5 mm thread pitch with a 3/4 headsize. do i just need to get some of the ones that have the hole in the middle and use a hex key to install them? i dont want to order another set and them still not work. plus i want them to be red... any help would be appreciated
Justin

Order spline drive like the ones I have where you use the thinwall socket on all of them.

11-16-2010, 08:43 PM
ya ive been looking. its either between those or the ones where they have like a big allen hole in the middle.... both are same price
Justin
11-16-2010, 08:47 PM
Allen hole ones are garbage. You can take em off with a 3/8 extension.

11-16-2010, 08:54 PM
