This is pretty much a video of the F-150 Raptor going through a Baja like track and getting some mad air for a truck out the factory. Motor Trend makes some pretty awesome videos @_@

Post exact time of said mad air.... I don't see anything worth the price tag. Get a stock 5.4 4x4, add a blower, good suspension, some good tires and go have fun with the Raptor.

The Raptor isn't even $2500 more than a basic FX4 F150, you couldn't replicate it for anything near that amount...

This...

The shocks alone will set you back that amount.

2011 F150 XLT 5.4L Supercab 4x4 ($36,750)
+ Rousch blower so no warranty issues (roughly $5000)
+ 35x12.50x18 BFG A/T's ($1,280 + install)
+ "Good suspension" ($3000 for a nice lift + install)
GRAND TOTAL= $46,030 + install of tires and lift... figure $50,000 for an XLT that will lose value MUCH faster than the more exclusive Raptor.

2011 Raptor Supercab $38,260

Where's the comparison?

2011 F150 XLT 5.4L Supercab 4x4 ($36,750)

You're 100% correct ... if you're looking at baseline MSRP numbers put out by Ford's PR dept. Those numbers sure make the Raptor look nice and affordable.

Google search reveals baseline MSRP for the Raptor is $38,995

Let's take a look at what they're actually going for after the dealer's add a little extra to cope with the demand....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10-NEW-BLACK-SVT-F150-V8-4WD-SUPERCAB-SONY-NAVIGATION-/370418037993?pt=US_Cars_Trucks

$47,450?

I'm not dogging the Raptor, I just think for the sticker price these dealers are getting, you could build a much better and more capable truck. Of course it wouldn't have the "OMG ITS AN SVT" status that most people are buying it for.

Oh lord... LOL... I just best shut up. I might end up getting pwned by real hardcore offroaders.

I remember back on Fordtruckworld.com we had this exact same dispute in 02' when Ford came out with the OMG FX4 package for their trucks. Somehow, some way, people were able to justify that skid plates, Rancho shocks, aluminum wheels, and a FX4 sticker were worth the extra $5,000.

I even used an XLT for my comparo, not even the FX4.

Haha... all us Ford fans have come to accept that just about every Raptor will be pavement pounders. Its an unfortunate reality with any 4x4 really. The Raptor is a cheaper alternative for people who intend to make "mall crawlers" but have quality to back the build.... the extra money in their pocket is just a niceity.

If you have no intent on building a truck up, sure go for an XLT.

If I got my hands on a raptor it definitely wouldnt be a mall crawler, I would see what those foxes can take :D

Stop hatin on XLT's :slap:

It looks great but I'd hate to have to file an insurance claim for a fender bender.... body panel prices are insane.
